Culture and Cuisine. The people of Abruzzo have long been known as "Forti e Gentili" or "Strong and Gentle." This description still holds true today. Though kind, generous and welcoming, the people have a strength of character which comes from generations of working the land. The area is famous for the local Olive Oil... among the best in the world, "La Chitarra" a square spaghetti most often served with lamb ragu, and "pecorino romano" an aged cheese made from Sheep's milk.
